چکیده

Longitudinal ¯ Λ 0 polarization in heavy ion collisions as a probe for QGP formation. Abstract We present an analysis of the longitudinal ¯ Λ 0 polarization in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions. The polarization of ¯ Λ 0 's coming from the decay chain ¯ Ξ → ¯ Λ 0 + π exhibits a very well differentiated behavior depending on the production region of the primordial ¯ Ξ's. This effect reflects the different values of the N¯ Ξ /N¯ Λ 0 ratio in the QGP region, where nucleon-nucleon interactions take place in a hot and dense environment, and the peripherical region, in which ordinary nucleon-nucleon interactions occur. An increase in the longitudinal ¯ Λ 0 polarization signals a strangeness enhancement which is thought as a property of the QGP phase.

Λ̄/p̄ RATIOS IN HEAVY ION COLLISIONS AT 11.6 A ·GeV/c

We attempt to explain the Λ̄/p̄ ratios measured in heavy ion collisions at 11.6 A · GeV/c beam momentum within a hadronic framework. This ratio is enhanced relative to corresponding ratios in pp collisions, and is large when compared with thermal fits to heavy ion data. Using a detailed cascade calculation, we show that different annihilation cross–sections of Λ̄’s and p̄’s, and the net conversion ...

A Possible Signal for QGP Formation from the Minimum-Bias Data of Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions

It is argued that the experimentally observed strong upward-bending of the logarithm of factorial moments versus that of phase space partition number in the higher-dimensional phase space of nucleus-nucleus collisions is due to the superposition of elementary collision processes in these collisions. A direct implication of this observation is that, at high enough energy and/or density, when the...

Direct Photons from Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collisions

Direct photons have been proposed as a promising signature for the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) formation in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. Recently WA98 presented the first data on direct photons in Pb+Pb-collisions at SPS. At the same time RHIC started with its experimental program. The discovery of the QGP in these experiments relies on a comparison of data with theoretical predictions for Q...

Heavy-Quark Kinetics in the QGP at LHC

We present predictions for the nuclear modification factor and elliptic flow of D and B mesons, as well as of their decay electrons, in semicentral Pb-Pb collisions at the LHC. Heavy quarks are propagated in a Quark-Gluon Plasma using a relativistic Langevin simulation with drag and diffusion coefficients from elastic interactions with light anti-/quarks and gluons, including non-perturbative r...

Early Thermalization at Rhic *

It is shown that recent RHIC data on hadron spectra and elliptic flow can be excellently reproduced within a hydrodynamic description of the collision dynamics, and that this provides strong evidence for rapid thermalization while the system is still in the quark-gluon plasma phase. But even though the hydrodynamic approach provides an impressive description of the single-particle momentum dist...
